Schools and Educational Packages

Starting with this school year, we would like offer schools in the area a package designed to enhance and complement the media studies modules of the primary/secondary level curriculums. We propose a program which will start with a presentation on the history of cinema as a medium. Following on from this we will offer a schedule of films themed to the current media studies modules.

Film & Education

Context is everything in understanding the world around us. The ability to appreciate the relevance a specific time and place has to a particular work of artistic merit is what makes the difference between merely observing and truly comprehending  the importance of a notable book or transcendent piece of art.

Much the same can be said for the medium of cinema, and the stories told on the silver screen. To fully enjoy a play is to see it performed or read aloud. A book is not just the committing of words to print, but the synthesis of imaginations between author and reader. To fully capture the grandeur of the art of film, one must sit with his fellow man, and gaze into that glittering pool of light, where all humanities triumphs and woes are reflected.

And that's where IMC Dun Laoghaire comes in.
